1957 - 2007

The year 2007 marked the 50th Anniversary of The Rotary Club of Quesnel Auction.
Our very first Auction, in 1957, was broadcast on radio from the old firehall on Carson Street. Over the years the Auction has grown and is now a 3-night event broadcast on both radio and TV, with pictures and information available on this website.
All funds raised are committed to local Quesnel community projects, and we thankyou for your support.

2011: Canadian Cancer Society "Northern Lodge - Rotary Hair Salon & Wig Bank"...Thankyou Quesnel !
After three nights of busy bidding and auctioneering, the 2011 Rotary Radio-TV Auction is in the books...and, once again, you have helped us raise $26,000 before costs.
Your support means we can meet our commitment to a donation of $10,000 to the Rotary Hair Salon & Wig Bank project located within the Canadian Cancer Society's Kordyban Cancer Lodge, a regional project valued at $150,000. Pictured left are Keith Corbett, our current President-Elect, presenting Travis Morgan, President of Rotary Club of Prince George, with our cheque for $10,000.
Added to the $1,000,000 contribution by West Fraser Timber to the Cancer Clinic itself, together with the annual success of Relay for Life, and Quesnel can be justifiably proud of the contribution to the care soon to be available for our community members facing cancer.
The remaining funds will be put towards local projects yet to be determined but which will add to the growing list of community.
Before we can do that, however, we need you to collect and pay for your items. All winning bidders will be able to claim their items at Design Flooring, starting Friday December 2nd. For those items not actually at Design, you will receive a receipt for payment from Rotary which you can then take to the donor business. Cash, cheque or money order payable to "Rotary Club of Quesnel" - sorry, the option to pay by credit card is not yet available.
Again, many thanks for your support - see you next year!

2010: Energi & Evolv!
The three nights of the 54th Rotary-TV Auction were held 22nd-24th November...and you helped us raise nearly $27,000 before expenses: THANKYOU QUESNEL!
Specifically, thankyou to all the businesses, individuals, volunteers and media partners for making this year's Auction another great success.
The Evolv "Stand & Glide" was a near $9,000 investment in a specialzed piece of exercise equipment for the Quesnel & District Recreation Centre. A presentation by Quesnel resident Lynn Turner really impressed us as to how the Stand & Glide would be of benefit to a wide age-range as well as addressing many levels of physical disabilities. Click on the image to enlarge (thanks to Matt Wood, City of Quesnel, for the great picture). And click here for the article by Quesnel-Cariboo Observer.
We have also been able to finish a project 10 years in the making by installing ENERGI activity equipment at West Fraser Timber Park - in total, this was a $22,000 investment! Quesnel has a proven record of being active, so these five pieces are a terrific enhancement to an already wonderful facility.

2009 - Legion Beach
For the 53rd time of asking, you phoned in your bids and bought all the items for sale over the three nights of our Radio-TV Auction…resulting in our being able to hand over a cheque for $15,000 - outstanding!
Pictured are, front left to right, Honey Affleck and Neil Huntsley of Royal Canadian Legion, Rotary Club President Liane Kimmie, Elizabeth Playford (Legion), Rotarian Bev Haluschuk, Hans Brinkert and Roger Williamson (Legion) at the cheque presentation 4th March 2010.
Thankyou to all the businesses and private individuals who donated items for sale. When you are out shopping, be sure to have these great community supporters at the top of your list.
If your group or organization has a project you think would make a great recipient of Auction funds, feel free to submit a Project Funding application to be found under the About Us tab.
